# Adding a Payment

On the Payments tab of a role you can add a payment stream. To add a payment, click the Add Payment button.

The Asset menu will allow you to select an asset for the stream from what is available in the project treasury.

Then you can specify an amount and the timeframe for the stream. Optionally, you can include a cliff, or a date after the start from which the recipient can begin to withdraw from the stream. If you do not specify a cliff, assets begin to stream immediately on the start date.

You can also specify whether a payment can or cannot be canceled. If the option to cancel is kept toggled on, then a proposal can later be used to cancel the payment which stops the stream and returns any unclaimed assets to the project treasury.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.decentdao.org/app/user-guide/roles/execute.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
