# Adding a Term

On the Member tab of a role you can add a term length. Normally, roles remain active perpetually: the assignee can be changed, but the role will be assigned one way or the other. However, if you’d like the role to be assigned only temporarily, you can specify a term limit. To add a term limit, select Add Term.

You can now specify a wallet address to assign the role to for this term and the end date of the term. Once this end date is reached, the term will end, and the role will be unassigned. If you’d like to have the role transfer automatically to another assignee, you can set another role that follows the last.

Note that once a role has been given a term it becomes a termed role from that point forward. There is no way to revert a termed role back to an indefinite role.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.decentdao.org/app/user-guide/roles/template.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
