# Adding Proposal Permission

On the General tab of a role, on a token voting project, you can toggle on or off the ability for the assignee of the role to make proposals. Note that this option will only appear after the first role for a project has been created, deploying the required Hats tree.

By default, this doesn’t change anything about the project permissions, since global permissions allow any holder of at least the specified token threshold to create proposals. But if you’d like to update your project to use role based permissions instead of the token holding threshold, first create a role or update an existing role with the proposal permission toggled on.

Then, once there’s a role set with the power to create proposals, go to the settings for your project and remove the top level proposal permission.

After the top level proposal permission has been removed, only members assigned to a role with the proposal permission will be able to create proposals.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.decentdao.org/app/user-guide/roles/vote.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
