The Basics
Set up your wallet
If you don’t already have one, you’re going to need a crypto wallet to use the Decent app. But no worries, there’s nothing complicated about setting one up. If you expect to use your desktop browser for your operations, you can set up a wallet as a browser extension. You can also use an app on your phone as your wallet.
There are a lot of wallet options available. Take your time in deciding which to use, most should work without issue when using the Decent app.
A note on gas fees
Heads up, in case you were not already aware, there’s just a bit of a “gas” fee to get transactions onto a blockchain!
You may wish to do more of your own research to better understand why, but for the purposes of using the Decent app, just know that you’ll need to have some funds in your wallet to cover these fees when you create, vote on, and execute proposals.
There are fewer gas fees associated with multisig governance since the creation and signing of proposals is done off chain.
Fund your wallet
With the above in mind, you’ll need to add some funds to your wallet. Gas fees are charged in the native token of the network you’ll be using. Take a moment to figure out which network you plan to use for your project before committing to the currency and make sure that it is supported by Decent.
As of the writing of this document, Decent supports Ethereum Mainnet, Base, Optimism, and Polygon networks (along with Sepolia testnet). You can check the network list on the first page of project creation to be sure.
Once you’re sure about which network you’re using, buy some of the native currency, such as ETH on Ethereum Mainnet.
Connect your wallet
Once you’ve got your wallet all set up and ready to go, you can connect it to the Decent app. If you’re using a wallet extension in your web browser, the Connect Wallet popup should detect it and show it as an option. If you’re using a wallet on your phone, you can also use WalletConnect to get a QR code to scan.

Follow the prompts in your wallet to complete the connection. You’ll know you’ve connected successfully when you see your wallet address at the top right of the page!
